I’m a physics teacher and love working with young people where together we can do amazing things like putting a new style cosmic ray detector payload in space. I was so thrilled to win the Patrick Moore Medal in 2012. I had managed to raise funds to build a small observatory at my school and run stargazing nights for students and the public. Students made the observatory robotic and presented at the National Astronomy Meeting. Teaching is such a joy when you see students flourish and embrace opportunities to be innovative and creative in science.
I’m a keen bassoon player and am often at the side of a lake or the sea supporting my fantastic daughter who sails. The Universe is such a brilliant way to inspire young people in science and a glorious night sky still takes my breath away!
