The Royal Astronomical Society is delighted to announce that the 2027 National Astronomy Meeting (NAM) will be hosted by the University of Leeds.

The UK's largest professional astronomy conference will bring together leading astronomers and space scientists from across the country and around the world from 11-16 July 2027.

Professor Daniel Thomas, Head of School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Leeds, said: "We at Leeds are delighted to host NAM next year.

"Leeds hosted this meeting exactly 40 years ago in 1986, not even called NAM then, so it is about time.

"The meeting will be held on the university campus, which is close to the vibrant city centre and train station. Leeds offers plenty of accommodation and entertainment (besides NAM).

"The Tour de France Femmes 2027 will start in Leeds next year, shortly after NAM, which is an exciting timing. We look forward to welcoming everybody at Leeds!"

This year's NAM was hosted by the University of Birmingham and took place from 20-24 July 2026.
