In July 2025, Prof. Mike Lockwood, the RAS President, wrote to Prof. Dara Norman, the President of the American Astronomical Society, to express our support for US colleagues set to be impacted by proposed cuts to the NASA and NSF budgets. The letter urged the US administration and Congress to reverse the cuts and reinstate science funding.
