Jenny Lister, winner of the RAS Patrick Moore Medal for 2018, talks about Tim Peake, telescope and learning alongside the children she teaches.

The RAS Patrick Moore Medal is awarded annually for excellence in education in RAS subjects. This year it went to Jenny Lister, a primary school teacher who has both energised her pupils to find out about space and developed the teaching across her school.  Tim Peake's stint on the International Space Station was something she used to engage pupils about space but she's also been working with the Wellcome Trust on wider STEM initiatives.  She did not grow up as a science enthusiast,  but came to it later in life and thrives on learning more,  alongside her interests in the arts.

Jenny Lister was science lead at St George the Martyr CE Primary School in Camden when she won the Medal; from September she will be deputy head at Betty Layward Primary School in Hackney, London. Follow her on Twitter: @misslistar.
