RAS Techniques and Instruments (RASTI) is delighted to announce a new annual student prize for the 'best' paper published in the journal by a student scientist.

The award is designed to celebrate and acknowledge the contribution of student authors to the journal, and to be eligible, the student should be the corresponding or first author.

It will be open from 1 September 2025.

Manuscripts will be shortlisted by the RASTI international Editorial Board, who will then vote on the ‘best’ paper.

The winner(s) will be announced in November 2026, and will receive prize money, a certificate of recognition, and a fee waiver for any subsequent paper submitted to the journal. The winning paper(s) will also be featured on the RAS homepage, and in Astronomy & Geophysics.

RASTI is a peer-reviewed scientific journal which provides an international forum for high-quality papers covering data science, software, and instrumentation, in astrophysics and geophysics. The journal is overseen by an Editorial Board which supports the Royal Astronomical Society’s charitable activities.
