The RAS has been monitoring the situation with the ongoing global outbreak of COVID-19. Our first priority is to contribute to the international public health effort to reduce and slow the spread of the new coronavirus.
We have therefore taken the decision to close our Burlington House office and to postpone all RAS meetings, events and public lectures, from today (Tuesday 17 March) until further notice. This includes the Annual General Meeting scheduled for Friday 22 May, and public lectures organised by the RAS elsewhere in the UK. Access to the library and collections will also not be possible.
This move is intended to help protect the public, our Fellows, Friends, visitors and RAS staff. Despite the unprecedented situation, rest assured that our staff will continue to work from home to support our membership and the sciences of astronomy and geophysics.
If you need to reach members of staff during the closure, please use email in the first instance.
Any updated information will be posted on this website, and on our social media feeds on Twitter and Facebook, as well as in emails to Fellows and others on our distribution lists.
Please also refer to the NHS page on COVID-19 for general advice.
