Ineke De Moortel is Professor of Applied Mathematics (Solar Physics) at the University of St Andrews, where she previously held a Royal Society University Research Fellowship. She is also an affiliate scientist at the High Altitude Observatory (Boulder, US). Her research focuses on observations and computational modelling of the dynamical processes occurring in the Sun's atmosphere, in particular coronal heating. Current research interests include the behaviour and interaction of MHD waves and oscillations in 3D geometries and developing self-consistent models of coronal heating and forward modelling (creating synthetic observations) to allow robust comparisons between theoretical and numerical results and high-resolution solar observations.
