Dr Stefano Lorito (Deputy Editor-in-Chief 2026-present)

Stefano Lorito obtained a degree in physics from University of Naples "Federico II" in 2001 and a PhD in Geophysics from University of Bologna "Alma Mater Studiorum" in 2005. Then, following the Sumatra-Andaman earthquake and Indian Ocean Tsunami in December 2004, Stefano has been working in the field of tsunami science.
Stefano is now a Senior Researcher at the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), Italy; he is the Coordinator of the CAT (Centro di Allerta Tsunami / Tsunami Warning Center) of INGV.
He is a member of the Global Tsunami Model (GTM) Board and the representative of the Thematic Core Service Tsunami in the EPOS Service Coordination Committee. Stefano has been also involved with different roles in many key tsunami European and National research projects; he served in different roles in the IOC-UNESCO ICG/NEAMTWS.
