Dr Anandaroop Ray
Geoscience Australia
Anandaroop Ray (“Anand”) is a geophysicist interested in the application of mathematical methods to applied geophysical problems. Since 2007, he has worked across industry, academia and government, focusing on the use of statistics and physics in natural resources conservation, exploration, and management. Anand has worked across a wide range of geophysical problems, from potential field methods to full waveform seismic and electromagnetic imaging. With a PhD (2014) from the Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (UC San Diego), Anand is particularly interested in geophysical signal processing, inversion, parameter uncertainty and model selection, as well as in the numerical implementation of inverse algorithms. In 2019, Anand joined Geoscience Australia as a senior scientist, where he works on probabilistic and deterministic inversion, and writes open-source parallel code that uses high performance computing (HPC) techniques.
