Starbursts Near and Far

This meeting will draw together researchers interested in local starbursts plus high-z Lyman break and sub-mm galaxies. Rest-frame UV and optical spectroscopy of high-z star forming galaxies from large ground-based telescopes now enables similar techniques to be applied to their local counterparts, enabling a common emphasis on feedback processes, the duty cycle of starbursts and the role of dust and metallicity.
