More than 50 years ago, a Swedish physicist named Hannes Alfven predicted the existence of a new breed of plasma waves, with a restoring force provided by magnetic tension. These Alfven waves can be generated in a wide range of magnetized plasmas throughout the Universe, including laboratory plasmas, the solar atmosphere and Earth's magnetosphere. The proposed meeting will discuss the latest theoretical and observational advances made in this field.
