Star*Men Donald Lynden-Bell, Nick Woolf, Roger Griffin and Wallace L. Sargent, are four of the giants of astronomy. Star*Men, directed by Canadian Alison Rose, looks back at their more than 50 years of friendship and work together. The four take a journey across the southwestern United States, visit the giant telescopes that they helped construct and that made their discoveries possible, and reflect on their lives as they draw to a close. On 16 March 2016 there will be a very special screening of Star*Men at the Royal Astronomical Society, one of the iconic sites of astronomy in the UK, with a Q&A with Prof Lynden-Bell. This event is a unique opportunity to see and hear how our ideas about the Universe have transformed in the last half century, and to talk with one of the veterans of that extraordinary time in scientific history. Tickets for the event are £10 per person, which includes a glass of wine or soft drink on arrival! Drinks at 6.30 pm. Screening begins at 7 pm, followed by the Q&A at 8.30 pm.To book your ticket please call the RAS office on 0207 734 3307.
